FoamCraft Packaging is a small, family-owned company specializing in quality, affordable custom foam and wood packaging at a local level.
A business built by hand.
In 1988, Bob and Donna took over a small business making foam inserts for a local tooling company, cutting the first pieces in their home's laundry room. By 1991 the work had grown into a garage workshop, where Bob hand-cut foam between overnight truck routes and the whole family pitched in.
More than three decades later, FoamCraft fabricates foam and builds wood packaging under one roof in Owatonna, still independently owned and still run on the same idea: take care of the customer.

- 1988
It starts with foam inserts
Bob and Donna acquire a small business that provides foam inserts for a local tooling company. The first inserts are cut by hand in their home's laundry room.
- 1989
One guiding principle
They purchase the business outright, with a principle that still guides everything we do: take care of the customer.
- 1991
Nights in the garage
The shop moves into a garage workshop addition. Bob drives truck full-time overnight while hand-cutting foam inserts; Donna and the kids laminate material while he rests.
- 1998
Owatonna Business Incubator
Ready to grow, FoamCraft joins the Owatonna Business Incubator and spends the next seven years developing the business there.
- 2002
Adding wood
A customer asks for custom pallets, and FoamCraft opens a wood shop in downtown Owatonna, expanding beyond foam.
- 2004 / 2005
One roof
After breaking ground in 2004, FoamCraft moves into its current building in 2005, bringing foam and wood production together under one roof.
- 2017
Albert Lea Crating
FoamCraft acquires Albert Lea Crating, broadening its custom wood crating capabilities and expanding operations to second location.
- 2025
A new addition
FoamCraft expands its Owatonna facility with a new building addition, adding more than 19,000 square feet of production and warehouse space.
